ROLE: Private Instructor & Sales Associate
Since joining the Barracks 616 Team in early 2016, Gary has provided insight on the sales floor to customers on numerous different topics. After spending some time on the sales floor, Gary was selected to join the Instructor Team as a specialist in Private Instruction. Gary's teaching methods and vast array of firearm knowledge can help anyone from the beginner asking about proper grip, stance, and trigger pull, to the more advanced shooter who wants to expand their shooting skill set.
GARY's BACKGROUND:
From a young age, Gary always had an interest in firearms and hunting. At the age of 15, Gary received his first gun for Christmas in the form of a shotgun from his father. As time progressed, Gary spent 13 years as a Missionary Pilot. Upon his retirement from missionary flights and his transition into 21 years of firefighting, Gary received an invite from his brother-in-law to attend a Cowboy Action Shoot. Upon his arrival, Gary found that his brother-in-law had other plans. Rather than simply attend the shoot, Gary found himself signed up as a competitor. Upon completion of the event, Gary purchased his first handgun, a single action Ruger Vaquero. Hooked, Gary continued to compete in Cowboy Action Shooting for the next few years. After being called upon to teach a Rifle Craft class at his church, Gary decided to become NRA Instructor Certified in 2010. In 2011, Gary began to teach Concealed Carry classes to the public. After five years of NRA instruction, Gary went on to become USCCA certified in 2015. Gary now continues his instruction under the USCCA name through Barracks 616.
