Suppressors - Forms & How to Buy
Now that we have learned a little about suppressors' myths, their history, and the time to buy from our last article, its time to talk about what you need to actually start the process of purchasing a suppressor as an individual. Despite what you may hear online, the process is pretty straightforward. To break it down, we will address what you need, how to go about getting these things, and what they are.
What you Need
1. ATF Form 4 (Provided by Barracks 616)
2. (Two) Blue FBI Fingerprint Cards: Form FD-258
3. (Two) Passport Quality Photos
4. Method of Payment
How to Get what You Need & What they Are
1. ATF Form 4: Like listed above, this form will be provided by Barracks 616. Each form contains three copy's (see bottom).
2. (Two) Blue FBI Fingerprint Cards: Form FD-258: These fingerprint cards can be obtained/completed at your local Law Enforcement office. To eliminate confusion, its best to tell the clerk that you need two FBI Fingerprint cards and then give them the form number. This will prevent you from getting the wrong fingerprint cards.

3. (Two) Passport Quality Photos: Like the item implies, these are professionally done photographs that you would use for a Passport. These photos can be taken at stores such as Walgreens, and Meijer.
4. Method of Payment: When submitting forms for a suppressor, a $200 tax is included. Payment methods can include Check, or Credit Card. Check's are typically viewed to be the better form of payment as there is less chance of incorrect entry into the ATF's system. Checks must be made out to the "BATFE" (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives). Example below.
Copies
Once the forms are completed, two copies will be mailed by us to the BATFE, and one copy will be turned in by you to your local Chief Law Enforcement Officer (Sheriff). Once the forms have been processed by the BATFE, one copy will be returned to Barracks 616 with a Tax Stamp affixed. Once this copy is received by us, we will call you letting you know your suppressor is ready to be picked up.
