Jean (John) Garand - Happy Birthday!

We wanted to wish Mr. John Garand a Happy Early Birthday! Born January 1st, John Garand was the Canadian born firearm designer of the M1 Garand, the iconic semi-auto rifle used by both the US Army and the US Marines during WWII and the Korean War. Garand was awarded the Meritorious Civilian Service Award in 1941 for his time with Springfield Armory. Rifles such as the M1A, and the M1 Carbine among others have pulled heavily from the M1 Garand's initial design.
