Carrying a Flashlight

If there's one thing I hate leaving the house with besides a firearm, is a light. Since I began carrying a flashlight on my person last year, I can't count how many times it has proven useful.

Yet, to be honest, before I started carrying one, I was certain that I had no desire or need for one. Yet, the first day I decided to put one in my pocket, I realized how much I had needed one all along. Whether it was hooking up a cable box behind the TV, illuminating crevices on my firearms during cleaning, or walking back to my car in the dark after the annual Coast Guard Festival, my EDC (every day carry) Flashlight has seen more use than just about every other item I carry.

A long standing proponent of lights on defensive firearms, I recognized that its pretty much never OK to draw a firearm unless absolutely necessary. Because of this, it was pretty easy to understand that a light attached to my Sig P229 sitting inside my pants was pretty much useless for every day illuminating needs. Without getting too cliche, the phrase "one is none, two is one" directly applied to my need for a EDC light.
