Under the Radar: Sig P225-A1

Originally introduced in 1978, the P225 (military designation P6) was offered as a smaller alternative to the Sig P220. The P225's relatively slim single stack design, proved to be a popular concealed carry and service pistol choice by numerous military and police agencies before its big brother counterparts, the P229 and P226 were introduced. Even after the introduction of these larger, higher capacity Sig pistols, the P225 saw continued use in the civilian market with the influx of surplus P6's that began to enter the country.

After discontinuing the P225 in favor of the larger Sig's, Sig reintroduced the firearm as the P225-A1 in 2015. The design shows numerous changes externally including a milled slide and curved trigger gaurd as opposed to the older stamped steel slide and square trigger guards of the old P225/P6. Paired with Sig's Short Reset Trigger, factory night sights, and more, the P225-A1 still remains a contender in the concealed carry market of today, despite its larger size when compared to other single stack firearms.
